Construction of nine major projects with a combined investment of 30 billion yuan ($4.14 billion) in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, started on July 4. 

The projects are related to fields such as new energy, people's wellbeing and new material. 

One of them, a 5.8-billion-yuan project funded by Zhejiang Jutai New Energy Material Co, will be focused on the manufacturing of new energy battery cathode material. The project will play a significant role in bolstering Zhoushan's green economy and optimizing its industrial structure, according to authorities.

Another project funded by Putuo Hospital will build a modern medical building with functions of a tumor center and a medical research and teaching base. The project will be crucial to improving Zhoushan's public health services.   

A third project is an advanced polymer materials facility funded by Qingdao Gon Technology Co. It is set to build a production line for manufacturing 300,000 metric tons of modified materials, 60,000 tons of optical display materials and 8,200 square meters of photovoltaic encapsulation film per year.

The facility will be key to boosting the city's new material industry.

Authorities said they will continue efforts to attract more projects, and provide better government services to drive the city's high-quality development.
