Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province has made significant progress in providing public cultural services over the past two decades.

One of the outstanding examples is that the city has built 47 reading rooms, creating 15-minute reading circles for residents.

Xu Kuiyi, curator of the Zhoushan Library, said that the reading rooms are playing a significant role in guiding residents to form an autonomous learning habit and cultivating the city's cultural features.

A resident surnamed Zhu said that the reading rooms serve as spiritual habitats and are an important signature for the city's humanity and warmth.

A series of cultural events such as lectures and parent-kid reading activities is also held in the city's reading rooms.
