A sailing competition was held in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, on June 9.

Fourteen fleets consisting of more than 100 players participated in the event, which lasted three days.

The 60-nautical-mile-sailing route (111.12 kilometers) started from the Zhoushan Archipelago International Cruise Port and passed through Putuo Mountain, Luojia Mountain, Baishan Island, Taohua Island and Wuzhushan Island before returning to the port.

A series of supporting activities such as forums and cooperation and exchange meetings was also held during the event.

Lu Qidong, a judge for the competition, said that Zhoushan has favorable conditions to hold such competitions and expressed his hope that the city will improve its related facilities and hold more professional competitions in the future.

Yu Jinhui, an athlete from Hangzhou, said this was the first time he attended a sailing competition in Zhoushan, and he would enjoy the city's stunning sea views and savor its delicacies after the competition.

Zhoushan has in recent years been taking advantage of its marine resources to nurture new business models related to sports as part of efforts to build a complete modern marine sports industrial system.

A representative of the event organizer said that they will continue efforts to advance the integration of sports events and cultural tourism resources.
