The Donghai cultural corridor in Dinghai district in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province opened to the public on May 25, local media reported.

The 100.5-kilometer corridor connects the district's ecological hills, beautiful villages and ancient relics, and is expected to play a significant role in bolstering the district's tourism sector, said a local official.

An electronic map and 15 must-see spots were released at the launch ceremony, while agreements on 10 cultural and tourism projects were signed.

Authorities also appointed a social media influencer to promote the cultural corridor on Douyin, the Chinese version of Tik Tok.

The actions are part of efforts by authorities to build beautiful villages and advance the in-depth integration of agriculture, culture and tourism over the past few years.

Authorities have identified 196 cultural landscapes along the corridor and implemented a series of measures to renovate and upgrade them. They have also introduced business models revolving around accommodation, intangible cultural heritage artifacts, camping, and fairs to boost tourism.

There are 18 fruit and vegetable picking spots along the corridor, which will meet tourists' leisure needs and help residents increase their incomes, according to authorities.

In addition, authorities will develop a series of new tourism products such as fairs, competitions, study tours, ICH inheriting, and farming experience as well as improve supporting facilities for parking, catering, accommodation, and shopping.
