Authorities in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province held a conference on May 19 to display the province's achievements in promoting common prosperity on islands over the past year.

He Zhongwei, Party secretary of Zhoushan, said at the conference that the common prosperity campaign launched last June is intended to increase fishermen's income and improve the living environment in fishing villages.

He added that the government will continue efforts to make innovations in governance systems, attract more quality projects, and focus on elderly care and healthcare

The city has launched 155 projects with a combined investment of 730 million yuan ($103.27 million) related to industry, infrastructure, and people's wellbeing. Sixty-four projects have been completed and 50,000 residents have benefitted.

Zhoushan has also made other achievements, such as launching a hospital ship that can be replicated and promoted elsewhere across the nation.
