Fourteen enterprises in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province were listed as provincial little giants, the Economy and Information Technology Department of Zhejiang announced on May 10.

The 14 companies are engaged in fields such as high-end equipment manufacturing, marine biomedicine, new materials, and marine electronic information and will be crucial to establishing a manufacturing industrial hub in the city, said local authorities.

The achievement is largely due to efforts by authorities to cultivate little giant enterprises in recent years, including rolling out supporting policies and strengthening precise services.

The city aims to become home to 200 new individual enterprises and 60 new enterprises above designated size as well as cultivate 30 provincial little giants and 15 chain-leader enterprises this year.

Little giant enterprises refer to outstanding high-tech small and medium-sized enterprises with high growth potential, advanced technology and a strong market competitive edge.

Zhoushan is currently home to 104 provincial little giants and 10 national little giants.
