Xu Renbiao, Zhoushan mayor in East China's Zhejiang province, met with a delegation of the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources of Kiribati on May 13.
Xu outlined Zhoushan's economic and social development during the meeting, and highlighted the role of fisheries as one of the city's pillar industries.
He expressed his expectation that both sides will strengthen cooperation in fisheries and cultural exchanges in the future.
Ribanataake Tiwau, Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources of Kiribati, said at the meeting that the trip to Zhoushan helps his teammates and him have a better understanding of the city's fisheries, and lays a good foundation for future bilateral cooperation.
After the meeting, Zhoushan Yinghai Pelagic Fishery Co signed a fishery cooperation agreement with the Government of Kiribati.
