Zhoushan launches reading campaign

Authorities of Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province launched a reading campaign on April 22.

Organizers gave away books to students and teachers, as well as awarded prizes to the city's top 10 readers at the launch ceremony.

Five themed reading events and a reading service program were also announced at the ceremony.

In addition, a series of activities like book fairs and craft making were held.

The city is currently home to five public libraries, 36 branch libraries, 41 urban reading rooms, and 249 rural reading rooms.

More than 3,000 activities were held in 400 public reading venues and 1.77 million books were borrowed in 2022, official statistics show.
