Authorities of Shengshan Island in Shengsi county, Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, have been making efforts to bolster its sea fishing industry in recent years.
For example, authorities have defined 520 hectares of sea areas, set standards for fishing ships, and installed positioning systems for the ships to ensure that the fishing sector can be developed in a proper way.
Authorities also welcomed projects that will be key to improving supporting facilities for fishing. The construction of a sea fishing showroom will be completed at the end of next month, which will function as a platform to display the island's sea fishing culture, provide VR experiences to fishing enthusiasts, and offer livestreaming services, said local authorities.
Authorities also held a fishing competition last December, and the livestream held to promote the island's fishing industry drew 23,000 viewers.
In addition, authorities have also rolled out favorable policies to help homestay operators expand businesses and develop new business models.
