Officials give thumbs up to expansion of ports in Zhoushan

A panel comprising experts from the General Administration of Customs, the Ministry of Transport and the National Immigration Administration expressed their satisfaction with the expansion of port areas in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province following inspections which took place from April 18 to 19.

Five port areas in Zhoushan have been expanded by 112.5 square kilometers. The city currently has 1,457.3 square kilometers of port areas. 

The Daishan port area has been expanded by 69.18 square kilometers, the Ma'ao port by 1.55 square kilometers, the Baiquan port area by 15.36 square kilometers, the Jintang port area by 24.45 square kilometers, and the Shenjiamen port area by 1.92 square kilometers.  

Six key projects operated by companies like Zhejiang Petroleum & Chemical Co Ltd and ENN (Zhoushan) LNG Co Ltd have been set up in the port areas.

The move to expand port areas in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province was approved by the State Council, China's cabinet last July. 

The expansion of port areas will facilitate the China (Zhejiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone's creation of a complete gas and oil industrial chain that will promote the transformation of the province's economy, said Zhoushan Mayor Xu Renbiao.
