Miaozihu Island in Putuo district in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, has become a popular destination among youth for travel or to start their businesses.

This is largely due to the implementation of a series of measures rolled out by authorities to develop its tourism industry and improve infrastructure.

For example, 27 homestays on the island have undergone intelligent upgrading, which can provide better experiences to youth tourists.

Authorities have built a comprehensive business complex on idle land, which features high-end accommodation, coffee, catering, and handicrafts. The complex is expected to generate an annual collective income of 1.2 million yuan ($174,500.22).

Authorities also rolled out favorable policies and provided support in terms of office spaces to those looking to start businesses on the island.

In addition, authorities have been making efforts to improve residents' happiness by improving infrastructure, such as building seawater desalination plants.
