Putuo to build child-friendly city

Updated : 2023-04-13 (chinadaily.com.cn)

Authorities of Putuo district in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province released a scheme aimed at building a child-friendly city on March 31, local media reported.

According to the plan, authorities will create favorable conditions for children's development by improving policies, strengthening public services, and guaranteeing children's rights.

Specifically, more resources will be channeled towards expanding affordable preschools, upgrading facilities for kindergartens in fishing villages, improving subsidy mechanisms for affordable kindergartens, and establishing working mechanisms to care for left-behind children.

The district aims to build eight child-friendly facilities in subdistricts, communities, schools, kindergartens, hospitals and parks, and set up a nursery by 2025.

The number of nursing spots per 1,000 kids should not be less than 4.5 by 2025, and 60 percent of them should be affordable ones, according to authorities.
