Zhoushan unveils plan for urban, rural integrated development

Authorities of Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, released an action plan aimed at narrowing the gap between its urban and rural areas on March 31.

According to the plan, authorities will launch 90 major projects, with a combined investment of 170 billion yuan ($24.69 billion), in its towns and villages over the next five years, which are designed to improve infrastructure and landscapes.

Authorities will make efforts to optimize infrastructure in its counties, including building and renovating 15 roads, 50 docks, 60 passenger ferries, as well as optimizing electric power, LNG, and water supply networks.

Authorities will also improve its public service offerings. It will build two first-aid centers and 20 village-level healthcare centers.

The local government will channel more resources towards improving its ecological environment, with plans to add 250 new energy buses.

The action plan also made a detailed stipulation regarding the integrated development of the primary, secondary, and tertiary industries in its fishing villages.

Authorities said they will sustain efforts to promote the appropriate allocation of public resources between its urban and rural areas in the future.
