The Information Office of the Zhejiang Provincial People's Government held a news conference on the 6th anniversary of the establishment of the China (Zhejiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone on March 29.

The Zhoushan area of China (Zhejiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone has made remarkable achievements over the past six years, according to officials at the conference.

Specifically, Zhoushan has been endeavoring to build a complete oil and gas industrial chain that includes China's largest petrochemical base that can process 40 million metric tons of crude oil per year.

Zhoushan has a storage capacity of 37 million cubic meters of oil and gas, and the volume of oil and gas trade since 2017 has grown at an average annual rate of 64 percent to the current 2.7 trillion yuan ($393.97 billion).

The Zhoushan area, which has been focusing on strengthening its capability to allocate resources for bulk commodities, handled 624 million tons of cargo and transferred 25 million tons of grain in 2022.

Zhoushan has over the past six years made 269 institutional innovation achievements, of which 125 are the first of their kind in the country and 32 have been replicated and promoted across the country.

The innovative measures are playing a significant role in promoting the liberalization of the oil and gas trade, improving the oil and gas transaction system and international marine services, as well as optimizing the city's port business environment.

Zhoushan will sustain efforts to attract more major projects and participate in the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region to transform the Zhoushan Port into a world-class port.
