Authorities of Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province released a series of policies at a news conference on March 23 to promote the high-quality development of its shipping and marine service industries.

According to the policies, the local government will allocate a special grant every year to provide financial support to its major shipping enterprises.

Specifically, authorities will give rewards of up to 2 million yuan ($290,631) to industry-leading enterprises, and up to 3 million yuan to companies that have established shipping alliances and logistics platforms, as well as adopted green shipping technologies.

The local government will provide subsidies of up to 4 million yuan to vessels that handle the river-and-sea coordinated transport as part of efforts to contribute to the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.

Authorities will also promote the use of clean energy such as LNG, electric power and hydrogen fuels to drive the sustainable development of its shipping industry.

In addition, authorities will implement measures, including providing subsidies to bunkering vessels and meteorological facilities at anchorages, to bolster its marine service sector.
