Zhanmao subdistrict in Putuo district, Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, has received national recognition for its efforts in developing its local specialty industry, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs announced on March 7. 

This is the second time the subdistrict has received the honor.

Dubbed "the hometown of squid", the subdistrict has over the past few years been making efforts, including rolling out favorable policies, developing technologies, as well as building a fair and competitive market, to advance the high-quality development of its squid sector.

The subdistrict has established a complete squid industrial chain that covers catching, processing, transaction, scientific research and marine culture.

The subdistrict, which mainly produces seafood products like frozen squids, dried squids, and frozen tunas, generates an annual output of more than 1 billion yuan ($145.29 million), official statistics show.
