Authorities of Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province have in recent years been making efforts to advance the integration of culture and tourism as part of efforts to promote the high-quality development of the city's tourism industry.

For example, Dinghai district is planning to establish cultural facilities along Donghai Sky Corridor, an ecological greenway.

Putuo district has been working to upgrade its scenic attractions, including Shengjiamen Fishing Port, as well as leverage its Buddhist cultural resources.

Besides upgrading infrastructure in scenic areas, Daishan county has been striving to accelerate the construction of leisure sports facilities, and hold events related to marathon, hiking, kite flying, beach golf and cycling.

Shengsi county has rolled out aquatic sports activities like sailboating, skateboarding, canoeing, paragliding, and held cultural festivals to boost the tourism sector.

Zhoushan is currently home to one national 5A scenic spot and five national 4A tourist attractions.
