Authorities of Daishan county in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, have been implementing measures to bolster its new material sector. 

The measures include establishing cooperative ties with the Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, which will be key to setting up the Daishan Institute of New Materials. 

Authorities have been making efforts to develop new working mechanisms, including establishing a leading group responsible for the  decision-making of the institute, and registering a technology company for its market-oriented operations. 

Authorities have also established a trans-cities special team to facilitate coordination between  different agencies when building the institute. 

Authorities have established 12 experiment workshops which allow up to 12 research teams to conduct experiments simultaneously. 

Authorities are also stepping up efforts, including engaging with universities like Peking University and Zhejiang University, to attract more innovation projects and accelerate the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements. 

Authorities are looking to welcome 100 high-caliber talents and set up an innovation fund this year to promote the high-quality development of the county's new material industry.
