The maiden voyage of the ship that plies the new Xiangshan-Putuoshan route will take place on March 8, according to local media reports.

The route, which spans 36 nautical miles (66.67 kilometers) from Xiangshan in Ningbo to Putuoshan in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, will reduce the sailing time from four hours to 100 minutes.

The passenger ship, which is Zhoushan's first high speed catamaran passenger craft, can carry 280 passengers.

The single journey ticket for the first floor cabin is 270 yuan ($38.9) per person. The fare for the second floor cabin is 290 yuan per person.

The return ticket for the first floor cabin is 408 yuan per person. The fare for the second floor cabin is 448 yuan per person.

The ship will operate daily, departing from Xiangshan at 7:30 and returning from Putuoshan at 15:30.
