Authorities of Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province will sustain efforts to bolster its marine economy this year.

Efforts include implementing national development strategies, attracting more major projects and advancing the high-quality development of its manufacturing sector.

In terms of implementing national strategies, Zhoushan aims to have the value of the imports and exports of bulk commodities as well as oil and gas reach 850 billion yuan ($122.95 billion) and 750 billion yuan this year respectively.

Zhoushan also plans to process 40 million metric tons of crude oil, transport 38.6 million cubic meters of oil and gas, receive 5 million tons of LNG, and supply 6.5 million tons of bonded oil in 2023.

Zhoushan will contribute to the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region by accelerating the construction of the Xiaoyangshan container terminal and the Shanghai LNG station pipeline, as well as speeding up Ningbo-Zhoushan integrated development.

Authorities are looking to launch 20 major projects with an investment of 10 billion yuan each this year. The projects are related to the petrochemical, energy, transportation and bulk commodity sectors.

Zhoushan will channel more resources towards bolstering its petrochemical new materials, green ship repair, and screw extruder industries to make significant progress in building a modern maritime city.
