2 Zhoushan towns receive provincial recognition

Two towns in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province were selected as provincial garden towns, according to an announcement by the Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of Zhejiang on Feb 10. 

Forty-two towns in the province were conferred the honor. 

The two towns were Liuheng town in Putuo district and Qushan town in Daishan county. 

Authorities of Liuheng town have in recent years been taking measures, including improving urban planning, preserving the ecological environment, and launching an energy saving and emission reduction campaign, to improve its living environment. 

The town now has 85.3 hectares of green spaces and a greening rate of 30.4 percent and a green coverage ratio of 35.3 percent. 

Authorities of Qushan town have in recent years been channeling more resources towards establishing green spaces, upgrading infrastructure, and improving the environment. 

The town presently has a green coverage area of 93.78 hectares and a green coverage ratio of 36.92 percent.
