Authorities in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province will in 2023 improve people's wellbeing in terms of education, healthcare, elderly care, childcare, employment, living environment, transportation and public cultural services, according to an announcement by the city government on Feb 10.
Zhoushan will build and expand five public primary and middle schools that are expected to enroll 3,200 students, as well as offer free spine screening examinations for 40,960 students.
The city is aiming to add 60 ICU beds and build five community healthcare centers, as well as offer free flu vaccines for 18,895 elderly people and free colon cancer screening services for 23,655 people.
Zhoushan plans to install smart facilities at 11 community elderly care centers, upgrade 50 public barrier-free facilities, help 80 autistic children recover, and provide jobs for 160 people with disabilities.
The city will add two nurseries that are expected to provide childcare services to 300 kids.
Zhoushan will provide vocational training for 36,300 people and cultivate 9,800 skilled workers this year.
The city plans to build 2,988 government-subsidized rental apartments, renovate 44 old residential communities and four parks.
Zhoushan will also implement a series of measures, including building 28 sewage treatment facilities, upgrading a 26-kilometer-long road and optimizing public transportation routes, to improve living environment for its rural areas.
In addition, the city will build five reading rooms, five cultural stations, 10 museums, and 19 sports facilities to provide better public cultural services.
