Imports and exports in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, were valued at 338.18 billion yuan ($49.85 billion) in 2022, an uptick of 43.6 percent year-on-year, official statistics show.

Specifically, the value of exports totaled 115.55 billion yuan, up 49 percent year-on-year, while imports amounted to 222.63 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 40.9 percent.

Imports of crude oil and exports of refined oil were among the biggest contributors to the sector's growth.

In 2022, imports and exports to and from the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Iraq rose by 47 percent, 67.5 percent, 160 percent and 720 percent respectively.

Imports and exports to and from countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative hit 214.85 billion yuan last year, up 55.5 percent year-on-year.

Imports and exports of private enterprises stood at 239.21 billion yuan in 2022, a year-on-year increase of 58.2 percent.

The city's international marine service base, resources allocation base for bulk commodities and bunkering port have been playing an important role in bolstering its foreign trade economy, said local authorities.
