Jintang port area keeps on rolling during Spring Festival

Updated : 2023-01-29 (chinadaily.com.cn)

Container trucks were shuttling around the Dapukou container terminal within the Jintang port area of Ningbo Zhoushan Port in East China's Zhejiang province in the early morning of Jan 26.

"This is a typical busy scene at the terminal during the Spring Festival holiday," said Tu Chengcheng, a bridge crane driver working in the port area.

He added that five ships operated at the terminal's three berths on the day, while 12 bridge cranes, 30 gantry cranes, and 67 container trucks were also operating in an orderly manner.

More than 800 staff of the port area stayed at their posts during the festival, working around the clock to ensure that freight and logistics work would continue to progress smoothly, said a local official.

The official added that the terminal is currently home to 13 smart container trucks, 14 remote-controlled bridge cranes, and 28 automated rail cranes, which play a key role in improving the operating efficiency of the port area.

The port area, which runs 31 international container routes, has handled 146,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) this year, up 66.37 percent year-on-year, official statistics show.
