The handling capacity of the Liuheng Port Area in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, exceeded 102.5 million metric tons in 2022, an increase of 17.7 percent year-on-year.
The main cargo handled at the port area includes coal, iron ore, oil products and mineral building materials. This increased handling capacity is the result of more key projects that have been established near the port area
For example, Zhejiang Zheneng Liuheng Coal and Electricity Co Ltd has built a transfer terminal for coal that has improved the efficiency of coal transportation by more than 50 percent.
In addition, an oil storage and transportation facility established on Dongbailian Island has increased the capacity of oil storage tanks in Liuheng Port Area to 6.6 million cubic meters, increasing the transfer volume five-fold.
