Three areas in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, made the list of the third group of provincial demonstration areas for rural and urban landscapes on Dec 22, according to the Zhoushan bureau of housing and urban-rural development.

Three demonstration areas are located in Putuo district, Daishan county, and Shengsi county.

Located in Putuo district, Donggang new district is a modern coastal area that integrates culture, sports, trade, and tourism, as well as an important area that provides commerce, trade, finance, and administrative affairs services.

Since 2016 when Zhejiang authorities started building demonstration areas for rural and urban landscapes, the new district has spent 1.16 billion yuan ($168.73 million) to upgrade its urban landscapes.

The model area in Daishan county includes seven villages or communities in Daixi, Dongshan, and Daidong towns.

Boasting rich natural resources, the area has been focusing on building a harmonious relationship between humans and nature.

Located in the northeast part of Shengsi county, the third model area has been taking efforts to build itself into a quality tourism destination based on its island landscapes and culture.

To date, Zhoushan is home to four provincial demonstration areas for urban and rural landscapes.
