An investment promotion conference on cross-border e-commerce was held in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province on Dec 8.

Fifty representatives from local enterprises and e-commerce companies attended the conference and discussed new means of bolstering cross-border e-commerce in Zhoushan.

Zhoushan was included in a national program aimed at establishing cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zones, according to an announcement by the State Council, China's cabinet on Feb 8.

Twenty-seven cities in the country made the list.

Zhoushan authorities have been making efforts to build a cross-border e-commerce industrial park that is designed to promote the transformation and upgrading of its foreign trade industry.

The industrial park is expected to provide services such as personnel training, operation management, overseas warehousing and logistics services, and financial services.

The park, which is currently home to 15 cross-border e-commerce companies, is expected to cultivate more than 60 such enterprises, provide 150 jobs and generate an export value of $100 million every year.

In addition, the park has established cooperation ties with some vocational colleges such as the Zhejiang International Maritime College, which will train professional talents for the city's cross-border e-commerce industry.

Authorities will continue their efforts to provide better government services to enterprises engaged in cross-border e-commerce industry in the city, according to local media reports.
