Zhoushan athletes shine at 17th provincial games

Athletes from Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province have posted good results at the 17th Games of Zhejiang Province, local media reported.

Nearly 400 Zhoushan athletes participated in the event, an increase of 43.8 percent compared with the previous edition.

The athletes garnered a team score of 612.5 and won 53 medals, including 16 gold, 17 silver, and 20 bronze.

In the newly added trap and skeet shooting competition, Feng Junye won the first gold medal for the Zhoushan contingent.

Yu Sihao from Daishan bagged the gold medals at the men's 100m and 200m sprints for the 15-16 years old group. He also broke the provincial record in the same age group.

Su Hongjing, Xie Jinhao, and Shao Tianze, three high jumpers from Zhoushan, won the gold, silver, and bronze medals in the men's high jump competition for the 17-18 age group respectively. Their results were of the level of national athletes.

Three athletes from Shenjiamen Primary School also performed well in the model sailing event, winning the silver and bronze medals for the Zhoushan delegation.
