A cultural and creative product – a cushion with fishermen's paintings - from Dongji village in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province has been shortlisted as a provincial-level souvenir, according to a circular by the Publicity Department of the CPC's Zhejiang Provincial Committee on Dec 2. 

Thirty cultural and creative products in the province made the list. 

The listing of the cushion is due to efforts by authorities in Dongji village to tap its fishermen paintings to develop related industries. The village has so far developed 33 cultural and creative products such as coasters, mousepads, postcards, T-shirts and oleographs, all of which are related to fishermen paintings. 

About 10,000 pieces of cultural and creative products developed by the village are now available in the market. 

Authorities hold one or two training courses at the village's cultural auditorium every year to nurture more professional painters, and 80 painters in the village have received the training to date. 

The village's fishermen's paintings have also won more than 300 prizes, and 55 painting creations have been collected by art galleries. Some paintings have also been displayed at international exhibitions. 

The creation of such souvenirs is aimed at preserving local cultures, which authorities say play an important role in driving common prosperity.
