The library in Zhoushan No 1 Middle School was opened on Dec 1, becoming the first of its kind in East China's Zhejiang province to share book resources with the city's library.

The new library represents another major achievement in the provision of premium public library services in Zhoushan. 

Authorities have in recent years been implementing a series of measures to create 15-minute reading circles as part of efforts to achieve spiritual prosperity. 

For instance, authorities have been using digital technologies to expand public library services and established a system which consists of libraries at all levels across the city. 

The city is currently home to 450 15-minute cultural life circles, 399 circulation stations, 41 reading rooms, 29 branch libraries and one school library. The number of licensed readers in the city has reached 206,000. 

In addition, a reading room on Zhujiajian Island has become a popular destination among locals and tourists. The reading room has also set a good example in integrating culture and tourism, which is key to advancing common prosperity. 

Authorities have also held reading festivals, improved functions of the reading app and provided more digital book resources to provide better experiences to readers.
