The construction of a future fishing village in Daishan county in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, started on Nov 4.
A future fishing village – new innovative residential clusters that feature an eco-friendly and digitalized rural lifestyle – is considered a key element in Daishan's common prosperity drive.
The 110-million-yuan ($15.27 million) project, which consists of six roads, two parking lots and a sewage treatment facility, will be completed by the end of 2023.
The project, which is aimed at developing a new tourism destination for short-distance trips, family tours and leisure tours, will play a key role in helping local residents find employment at their hometown and realize common prosperity as quickly as possible, said a local official.
Building the fishing village is also part of efforts by authorities to develop beautiful fishing harbors that feature fishery culture, ecological landscape and coastal recreational activities.
