Zhoushan makes progress in civilized practice

Updated : 2022-11-04 (chinadaily.com.cn)

Authorities in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, have in recent years been exploring ways to expanding the city's civilized practices to more remote islands.

For example, Zhoushan has built mobile service stations in its four counties and districts that provide services to more than 1,900 senior residents and people with disabilities on 21 remote islands.

A hospital ship manned by medical workers and equipped with a medical examination vehicle arrived at Dengbu Island last month to provide free one-stop medical services to local residents.

Zhoushan is currently home to four civilized practice centers, 39 civilized practice offices and 409 civilized practice stations.

The civilized practice venues have hosted a series of activities such as introducing the puppet show - a provincial intangible cultural heritage item - to enrich the spiritual lives of locals.

In addition, they have arranged for volunteers to provide services such as mediating disputes among residents and sorting garbage to protect the marine environment.

These civilized practice venues will play a significant role in promoting rural vitalization and common prosperity, said a local official.
