Four villages in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, were recently listed among the 100 villages in the province for having beautiful courtyards, according to an announcement released by the provincial Women's Federation and the provincial Department of Agriculture and rural Affairs. 

The four villages are Dinghai district's Ma'ao village, Daishan county's Sannong village, Shengsi county's Tian'ao village and Zhujiajian sub-district's Nansha village. 

Ma'ao village

Ma'ao village, which had earlier this year launched a campaign to build clean and tidy courtyards, has created an array of courtyards that feature attractive layout as well as a variety of flowers and trees. 

The village has been awarded honors including "a national key village for rural tourism", "a demonstration village for rural governance", "a traditional village under provincial level protection". 

Sannong village

Authorities in Sannong village have in recent years been mobilizing its women residents to build pleasant courtyards that significantly improve people's sense of fulfillment, happiness and security. 

Tian'ao village

Named a national model recreational fishing base, Tian'ao village has in recent years been channeling resources towards improving its living environment. 

Nansha village

Nanshan village, a fishing village featuring rural tourism, has been making good use of the women's federation to advance the creation of charming courtyards.
