Dinghai district in Zhoushan, East China’s Jiangsu province, has achieved outstanding accomplishments in its economic development, city construction and renovation, and improvement of people's well-being since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China held in 2012.

The district has over the past decade been making efforts to advance the high-quality development of its marine economy.

Dinghai is currently home to a grain industrial park, an oil storage and transportation base, and a fishery town, where a series of measures have been implemented to set up major projects related to the marine economy.

The district has over the last 10 years also made significant progress in improving the living environments in its urban and rural areas, and this is a key reason why Zhoushan was selected as a national civilized city by the Central Commission for Guiding Cultural and Ethical Progress in 2020.

Dinghai has built Xinjian village, a demonstration village for rural tourism, as well as a greenway named Donghai Sky Corridor, both of which have become popular destinations among local residents.

The district has also channeled resources towards renovating old residential communities in its urban areas.

Authorities in Dinghai have been exploring new ways to improving social governance and people's wellbeing during the same period.

Authorities have rolled out a string of policies to advance the building of a sound public health system, build a one-of-a-kind art gallery in Xinjian village, and set up home-based care centers for elderly people.

Dinghai has also made remarkable achievements in its social governance and has been included in the list of provincial safe counties (districts) for 17 consecutive years.
