Dongsha Beach in Putuo district of Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province has over the past few years grown in popularity as a surfing destination due to its soft, golden sand and pleasant sights.

Such is the popularity of the place that it was chosen as a permanent venue for the International Islands Tourism Conference in 2015. 

City Surfer, the Asian first surfing club focused on surfers from cities, has built a surfing base on the beach in 2021. The club is the first of its kind in East China. 

The club has held more than 10 competitions and established cooperative ties with over 30 international brands since its founding, which is helpful to make marine sports a signature industry in Zhoushan. 

In addition, another beach - Nansha Beach is located near the beach, which makes Zhoushan home to a myriad of splendid beaches. 

The beaches have in recent years attracted more than 20,000 tourists from nearby cities, such as Shanghai, Hangzhou and Ningbo to go surfing in Zhoushan. 

The best time to go surfing on the beach is from April to November.
