Two marine meteorological buoy stations were recently launched at the Xiushandong and the Xianglu huapingjiao anchorages of the Zhoushan area of the China (Zhejiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone in East China's Zhejiang province.

The two buoys are equipped with weather instruments, wavemeters and current meters, and will carry out real-time monitoring of sea conditions.

The Zhoushan's international maritime service base has since 2017 been cooperating with the city's meteorological bureau to conduct research on weather conditions and build facilities for monitoring weather conditions.

The city, which is presently home to 33 automatic weather stations and four buoy stations, is expected to build a smart meteorological sensing network that consists of an intelligent meteorological system, weather stations and buoys by the end of 2023.
