Authorities in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province recently launched a WeChat mini app to provide information about public cultural activities held in the city.

Users can receive information about the city's cultural activities, cultural spaces, cultural teams, primary-level cultural working staff and rural cultural talents by following the WeChat public account "zjzsqdxq", according to the authorities.

To date, information regarding 1,856 cultural venues and 196 cultural teams in the city has been uploaded to the platform.

The mini app has been put into trial operation in some communities and villages of Putuo district and Daishan county administered by Zhoushan.

Ding Yazhen, a resident of a community in Putuo district, said she can now easily find out where she can watch her favourite art performances.

In addition, local residents can upload information about what performances they prefer through the mini app.

Art performances staged by primary-level cultural talents will be uploaded to the platform soon, according to the authorities.

Local officials said they will continue to optimize the platform's functions, increase service offerings and update information to cater to people's cultural demands, according to local media reports.
