A homestay on Dongfushan Island of Putuo district in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, is so popular among tourists so that all guestrooms are occupied in peak tourist seasons.

The homestay, featuring a cozy and homely environment, operated by Chen Lanna, a Zhoushan native.

Chen said that she decided to operate a homestay that provides better services for guests largely due to her own traveling experiences in Taiwan, where homestays are a mature industry.

In 2017, she came to the Island to conduct a field survey before deciding to convert a local resident's house into a homestay.

To date, she has run four homestays on several islands of Zhoushan, such as Zhujiajian, Miaozihu and Huaniao islands.

She noted that the homestays have helped increase incomes of local people as well as improve their living conditions in an eco-friendly way.

Her homestays have offered job opportunities for more than 30 local residents, which in turn aid the common prosperity efforts.

These residents can earn 70,000 yuan ($10,210) a year, in addition to rental income.

She added that she is making efforts to promote the healthy development of the local homestay industry.
