The Zhoushan-Daishan cross-sea bridge which connects Zhoushan Island to its outlying Daishan Island in East China's Zhejiang Province was opened to traffic on Dec 29, 2021, marking the final step in connecting all counties in the region with highways.

Jin Zhe, the general manager of an automotive upholstery company based in Daishan, said that the bridge has greatly improved the local transportation network and reduced the cost of transport from Zhoushan to Daishan by at least 10 percent.

One hundred and ninety-four billion yuan ($28.75 billion) was spent on the construction of transport infrastructure in Zhejiang province in the first half of 2022, up 14 percent year-on-year.

Authorities said they will continue to improve the transport network to aid the province's common prosperity drive.
