Zhoushan, a city in East China's Zhejiang province, has been leveraging its distinctive natural resources to attract more tourists.
The city has built more than 10 camping sites that hold activities such as concerts, campfire parties and outdoor movie screenings.
He Lingling, who runs a camping site in the city, said that her camping site had received nearly 700 visitors in July.
One of Zhoushan's most popular attractions is the bioluminescent bay within Huaniao island in Shengsi county. Besides stunning views of nature, Zhoushan also boasts a vibrant nightlife scene which features night markets where visitors can taste local delicacies and buy cultural and creative products.
He Yixiong, an associate professor from the Zhejiang Ocean University based in Zhoushan, said that the city still needs to tap its cultural resources, including craftsmen and intangible cultural heritage inheritors, to develop cultural and creative products that will provide an immersive cultural experience for tourists.
