Daishan takes steps to attract college graduates

Updated : 2022-08-04 (chinadaily.com.cn)

Daishan county in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province held a series of activities on Aug 3 to help undergraduates learn more about its industries.

During the activities, 30 Daishan undergraduates visited the county's major enterprises and had face-to-face exchanges with human resource professionals to better understand the working environment and preferential policies rolled out by local authorities.

The county government has in recent years implemented a series of measures, including providing venture funding, to encourage more native graduates to return to their hometown to work or start businesses.

Local authorities have been sending letters to explain relevant policies to over 2,500 undergraduates who are Daishan natives since 2020, resulting in more than 50 percent of young talents returning to Daishan.

Authorities have since last year been inviting graduates from other provinces like Shandong and Shanxi to go on study tours in Daishan. Livestreaming events and online study tours have also been launched to help graduates find jobs.

In the first half of 2022, the county welcomed 1,369 college graduates, up 49.45 percent year-on-year.
