The Zhoushan area of the China (Zhejiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province has been stepping up efforts to improve its port services in recent years.
For example, authorities have completed the No 4 and 5 berths at the Dapukou container terminal within the Jintang port area of Zhoushan Port ahead of time to expand collection and distribution capacity.
Authorities had also opened two new shipping routes to South China's Hubei province this year to promote the river-and-sea coordinated transport. Currently, two vessels have been put into operation and the annual volume of river-and-sea coordinated transport in the area is expected to reach 76,000 metric tons.
Meanwhile, the port has leveraged new technologies to improve productivity and facilitate the sharing of information. For instance, the video monitoring systems in port areas that handle dangerous cargo have been upgraded to improve safety.
Zhoushan is presently home to 510 marine service companies that provide services, including bunker fuel oil supply, ship maintenance and ship transaction.
