A smart plant that provides services including collection, storage, transportation and disposal of ship pollutants was put into operation in Putuo district, Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province.
The plant is currently offering services to more than 1,500 ships.
The district has also implemented measures to improve the management system of pollutant disposal.
The local authorities will offer training courses on pollutant disposal and laws and regulations of marine environment protection to improve the awareness of fishermen in protecting the marine environment.
The district will also make efforts to promote the digitalization of pollutant disposal, according to authorities. A local official added that the plant will improve Zhoushan's marine governance capability.
