Dashuwan village on Dongji Island in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, will start receiving tourists in May of next year after being renovated.
Dashuwan Stone Building Culture and Tourism Development Co will invest 100 million yuan ($14.85 million) in the renovation of a fishing village featuring stone residential buildings in an effort to better take advantage of its cultural charm.
Xia Zhengwen, general manager of Dashuwan Stone Building Culture and Tourism Development Co, said that a good scenic spot not only provides accommodation, but also gives tourists a chance to experience the local culture.

To date, 33 million yuan has been invested in the repair of 39 ancient buildings, improvement of two kilometers of ancient paths, and the building of public restrooms.
Homestays, tourist service centers, fishermen's painting halls, and other facilities will soon be established in the village, according to Xia.
He said that some of the projects will be available to tourists in May 2023.
