A 14,000-metric-ton bulk cargo vessel recently left the Laotangshan terminal in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province for Wuhan in Hubei province, marking the launch of the second ship route between the two cities.
The vessel is expected to arrive at the Linsifang port area, Wuhan, five days later.
In the first four months of the year, more than 100 million tons of cargo were delivered in Zhoushan via sea-river combined transportation, a year-on-year increase of 4.6 percent.
Since last year, Zhoushan has been taking measures to expand its sea-river combined transportation business by seeking cooperation with ports along the Yangtze River.
To date, Zhoushan has cooperative intention agreements with nearly 20 Yangtze River ports, including Wuhan, Huangshi and Jiujiang.
In addition, the city is now home to seven shipping enterprises engaged in sea-river combined transportation.
