Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province boasts a promising smart marine industry as one of China's four smart marine industry demonstration zones.

Zhoushan has made many achievements in the industry over the past year.

First, it inaugurated the Zhoushan Smart Marine Industry Engineer Collaborative Innovation Center, which is engaged in research on marine monitoring, overocean communications, big data, and marine engineering equipment.

In addition, Xingchen Haiyang Communication Technology (Zhejiang) Co Ltd recently started operating in Zhoushan. With an expected annual output of 20 million yuan ($2.95 million), the company is positioned as the global sales and maintenance center for overocean communications and intelligent marine equipment.

Furthermore, Zhoushan-based Zhejiang Ehanghai Information Technology Co Ltd has developed the first collision avoidance warning system for merchant and fishing ships, which will be used by more than 2,500 fishing boats in the province.

Advanced instruments and equipment, including an online seabed observation system and underwater high-definition camera developed by Zhoushan Oceanthink Marine Science and Technology Co Ltd, strengthened China's capabilities in continuous online detection in marine environments and wildlife at the bottom of the sea.

Zhoushan has also brought in or cultivated various other companies, including China State Shipbuilding Corp Ltd and China Electronics Technology Group Corporation, to further boost the development of its smart marine industry.
