The Shengsi Island Park in Shengsi county, Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, was recently recognized for its efforts in transforming Zhejiang into a "big garden" by the provincial authority.

Boasting a pleasant climate, abundant sunlight, rich tourism and fishery resources, and a profound ocean culture, the island park is the only national-level island-style scenic area in China.

Located in easternmost Zhejiang, Shengsi Island Park covers a sea area of 685.7 square kilometers and includes six main islands and more than 620 small islands.

Shengshan island features a 100-year-old fishing ground while Huanglong island is known for its villages with stone buildings and Gouqi island is home to a vibrant mussel farming community.

The construction of Shengsi Island Park is aligned with international standards for island recreational.

Over the past two years, 11.8 billion yuan ($1.85 billion) has been invested into the improvement of traffic, landscaping, and fishing villages on the island.

Shengsi Island Park has also launched travel routes connecting its various scenic islands and featuring fishermen's painting, fishermen's song, and cultural relics. Authorities have also introduced sports including sailing, skateboarding, and paraglider, as well as created a brand for Shengsi delicacies.
