Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province secured more than $2.8 million in intended deals at an online exhibition for Zhoushan and members of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership that concluded on March 25.
The online exhibition attracted 43 foreign trade companies involved in aquatic products in Zhoushan and 37 buyers from Vietnam, Japan, Thailand, and other RCEP member countries.
In addition, Zhoushan will hold an online fair exclusively for more than 40 Zhoushan aquatic product companies and nearly 100 aquatic companies from Japan this month.
The RCEP has been signed by 15 Asia-Pacific countries, including 10 ASEAN members, China, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand. As the world's largest trading bloc, it will eliminate 90 percent of tariffs on goods traded among its signatories over the next 20 years.
RCEP took effect on Jan 1, when it went into force for six ASEAN members and four non-ASEAN members, including China, Japan, and New Zealand. It came into effect for South Korea and Malaysia on Feb 1 and March 18, respectively.
RCEP members have been important trading partners for Zhoushan. Last year, the city traded 51.63 billion yuan ($8.11 billion) with RCEP members, accounting for 24.6 percent of the city's total foreign trade and including 19.53 billion yuan in exports.
