Daishan, a county in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, introduced a record high number of talent in 2021, local media reported.

Last year, the county brought in 1,910 university graduates, 1,323 skilled personnel, and 16 high-profile professionals, including postdoctoral researchers.

Daishan has ramped up efforts in recent years to improve its industrial park in Ningbo, Zhejiang province by cooperating with local universities, organizing forums and competitions, as well as publishing preferential policies to attract more talent.

Currently, about half of the employees in the industrial park in Ningbo have a master's degree or above.

In addition, the new material research and experiment base of the Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering is under construction in Daishan. After its completion, the first five research groups consisting of 130 new materials talents will work in the county.

Statistics show that Daishan brought in 11 industrial projects worth more than 100 million yuan ($15.83 million) last year. The projects have since helped attracted more skilled personnel and university graduates to work in the county.

Daishan is presently home to about 45,000 talents. This year, it is expected to introduce more than 60 high-level talents, 1,200 skilled personnel, and 2,100 university graduates.
