The cargo throughput of Majishan port area in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, reached a record 6.4 million metric tons in January, exceeding the port's monthly target, local media reported on Feb 9.
About 150 employees continued working at the port area during the Spring Festival holiday, which ran from Jan 31 to Feb 6, to ensure the normal operation of the Majishan Port, said Lu Xiangdong, general manager of Shengsi Baogang Majishan Port Shipping Co Ltd.
The port had also formulated a plan to receive cargo ships, including six 300,000-ton bulk cargo ships, in January, creating a favorable conditions for its full-load operation, according to Lu.
